Dream Studios is a 501(c)3 nonprofit founded by the Backyard Dream team, built to give students and underserved communities in Southeast Wisconsin hands-on access to real production environments, mentorship, and industry tools. We believe that creativity can change lives, and our doors are open to anyone who wants to learn, create, and grow.

What We Offer
Dream Studios Lab & Academy runs a wide range of programs for all skill levels. Each program is taught by working professionals who share real-world knowledge in a supportive setting.
Film & Video Production
Learn how to tell stories with a camera. Our film and video production workshops cover everything from scriptwriting to shooting and directing. Students work on real projects and build a portfolio they can be proud of.
Podcasting & Livestreaming
The world of audio and live content is growing fast. We teach the full process of podcasting and livestreaming, including setup, recording, and distributing your show to the world.
Editing & Post-Production
Great stories come together in the edit. Our editing and post-production classes help you master software tools and learn pacing, color, sound design, and more. We make sure every student gains skills they can use right away.
Audio Production
Clear, professional sound is key. Our audio production training covers recording techniques, mixing, and mastering. If you want to produce music, film sound, or podcasts, you will get hands-on practice in our studio.
Creative Technology & Virtual Production
New tools are changing the way media gets made. We offer training in creative technology and virtual production, including LED walls and real-time rendering. These sessions prepare students for the future of filmmaking and live events.
Workforce Development & Mentorship
We want to help open doors. Our workforce development and mentorship programs connect learners with working pros who offer guidance, feedback, and real career advice. This is not just a class; it is a bridge to a job in the creative industry.

Our programs are open to all, but we focus on reaching teens, young adults, and underserved communities in the Kenosha area and across Southeast Wisconsin. Some workshops are designed for specific age groups, like our youth film camp.
No. Most of our programs are beginner-friendly and we welcome all skill levels. We believe the best way to learn is by doing, and our instructors make sure nobody gets left behind.
We offer film education that covers the full production process, from script to screen. You can learn camera work, lighting, directing, editing, and more, all right here in Kenosha.
Yes. Dream Studios Lab & Academy is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit. Our mission is to make professional media training available to everyone, especially those who might not otherwise have access.
You can sign up for Dream Lab, our summer film camp, by clicking the Sign Up button on this page. The camp runs August 3–14, 2026, for ages 15–18. The cost is $500 and spots fill quickly.
